Virginia Women's Swimming Wins Fourth-Straight National Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia won its fourth-straight national championship at the NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Georgia, with the University of Georgia serving as host at the Jack Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

The Cavaliers totaled 527.5 points to claim the title, ahead of second-place Texas who scored 441 points.

Virginia is the third-ever and first school since 1996 to win four consecutive NCAA team titles when Stanford won five straight team championships from 1992 to 1996. Texas is the only other program to claim four or more consecutive titles, winning the championships in five consecutive seasons from 1984 to 1988.

Virginia won a total of seven individual events and four of the five relays, marking the third consecutive year UVA has won a total of 11 titles at the championship.

The Cavaliers' Gretchen Walsh now has 6 individual and 12 relay titles in her collegiate career - while owning or participating in eight NCAA records: 100 free, 50 free, 100 back, 100 fly, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay. Alex Walsh has claimed eight NCAA individual titles to go along with 11 relay titles. Alex Walsh owns 8 NCAA individual and 11 relay titles.

North Carolina's Aranza Vazquez Montaño successfully defended her 1-meter and 3-meter diving titles from 2023, securing the 2024 1-meter crown with 350.50 points and the 3-meter crown with 354.75 points.

NC State's Katharine Berkoff took the title in the 100 back, touching the wall at a program-record time of 48.55.
