Moeller named new men's and women's golf coach

Brian Moeller was a two-sport athlete at Rockhurst from 1998 to 2003.

Rockhurst University Director of Athletics Kristy Bayer announced today that Brian Moeller has been hired as the new head men's and women's golf coach, beginning in January 2023.

"We are excited to welcome Brian as our new golf coach," Bayer said. "He brings energy for coaching and a passion for Rockhurst University. As a standout golfer, he will bring practical expertise and instruction to the program."

Moeller has played competitive golf on the local amateur tours in the Kansas City area for the past seven years. He was the Kansas City Amateur Net Division champion in 2021 and has finished in the top five three times in the Net Division of the Missouri Four Ball Championship.

"Brian is a Rockhurst alum and former standout athlete, and he is well versed in our mission and values here at Rockhurst. He knows what we stand for, how we operate, and who we strive to be on a daily basis," Bayer said.

"We were impressed with Brian's local ties and relationships in the golf community. This will assist in elevating our program," Bayer added.

Moeller was a two-sport athlete at Rockhurst University from 1998 to 2003. He was the starting point guard on the men's basketball team that finished 24-6 and advanced to the NCAA regional finals in 2002. He was an infielder and outfielder for the Hawks' baseball team, and played on the 1999 team that finished fourth at the NCAA Division II Championship.

"I got bit by the golf bug ever since I graduated from Rockhurst," Moeller said. "I am enamored with the game and it's become one of my favorite pastimes. I am excited to help our teams become more competitive and build off what Richard Konzem has done and keep getting better."

Moeller graduated from Rockhurst University with a psychology degree in 2003 and received his MBA in management from Rockhurst in 2011. He has served as an assistant coach for the Rockhurst women's basketball team for the past six years. Moeller and his Kari, who played goalie on the Rockhurst women's soccer team, have two daughters, Addison (14) and Reilly (11).
