Cayla Andrews Announced as New Field Hockey Coach

| By:
Center Valley, PA, (March 25, 2024) – Director of Athletics Scott Coval has announced Cayla Andrews as the sixth head coach of the DeSales University field hockey program beginning her tenure as a Bulldog immediately.

Andrews comes to DeSales having served as the Graduate Assistant coach at FDU-Florham over the past two seasons helping the Devils earn a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason in 2022. Additionally, she has served as the head coach for Total Dutch FH since November, 2022 and was an assistant coach at Arcadia University for 17 months in 2021-22.

"I am honored and excited to be named the head field hockey coach at DeSales University. I would like to thank the Director of Athletics, Scott Coval, Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator, Gracia Perilli, and the search committee for providing me with this opportunity to guide these student-athletes toward our collective vision for the DeSales University Field Hockey program", said Andrews. "I am eager to embark on this journey and dedicated to providing an exceptional student-athlete experience. I am committed to upholding the University's values and fostering a culture of growth, integrity, and community impact."

Andrews has a decorated career as a player graduating from The College of New Jersey in Dec., 2020 with Bachelor's degree in finance. She finished her career with 76 career goals and 171 career points to rank among the top five in program history. She helped the Lions win three NJAC Conference Championships and advance to the NCAA Tournament four times.

During her career Andrews earned First-Team All-American honors in 2019. She was First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-NJAC twice. Andrews was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2019 leading NCAA Division III in goals, goals per game, and points per game.

"We are extremely pleased and excited to announce Cayla Andrews as our head field hockey coach", said Director of Athletics Scott Coval. "We had an outstanding pool of candidates. Cayla's previous coaching experiences, her familiarity with the MAC Freedom and her success as a top-level student-athlete separated her from others and made her a great fit for our field hockey program, athletic department and university. We are confident Cayla's coaching knowledge and leadership abilities will enable her to build upon the tremendous success our field hockey program has had over the last 10 years.  We're excited for the future of DeSales field hockey."

Andrews takes over a Field Hockey program that had been led by head coach Lindsay Goeller for the last nine seasons. Goeller resigned following the 2023 season after relocating with her family, having won the school's first and only MAC Freedom Championship in 2022 and as the all-time leader in wins with 77.

She hails from Hackettstown, NJ where she graduated from Hackettstown HS in 2016.
