DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics is excited to welcome back Dalton Graham as the next head coach of the cross country and track and field programs.

Graham, an assistant with the programs in the fall, returns to Durango after a stint as the head coach at Clarke University (NAIA) in Dubuque, Iowa.

"I am extremely excited to take on the role as the new head cross country and track coach at Fort Lewis College. Having lived in Durango while also spending time as an admission counselor and assistant cross-country coach, I feel immense pride for the area we live in and the academic and athletic setting that FLC has to offer. It is inspiring to see the strides the program has made with the athletes' dedication to the sport under Shawn Jakubowski's coaching leadership. I am very motivated to continue the trajectory the cross country and track program is on as I feel it's truly just the beginning."

As a member of the Skyhawks coaching staff, Graham guided the men's and women's cross country programs to new heights. For the first time in program history, both teams advanced to the NCAA DII National Championships. The men placed 13th while the women earned a 20th place finish—both program bests. The teams compiled two All-Americans, one All-Region, and six All-Conference nods in 2023.

Prior to his time at Fort Lewis, Graham served as the assistant coach at Lake Erie College for two years. During his time with the Storm, his student-athletes shattered five school records and one was named the institution's athlete of the year. He was also responsible for the program's recruiting efforts. He went on to be named head coach at Tiffin University where he coached nine school records, four conference champions, numerous podium finishers, and a national qualifier.

Graham is no stranger to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference after competing for Adams State University during his collegiate career. He began his career at Lake Erie College where he broke seven school records and earned All-Conference accolades. Graham closed out his racing with the Grizzlies where he competed from 2017-19. He was part of a national championship team title in cross country and went on to qualify for nationals in track on three occasions. He was an All-American in the 5k after placing sixth at the 2019 NCAA DII Indoor Championships.

Graham, a native of Gomer, Ohio, earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Studies with a minor in Coach from Lake Erie College and completed his master's degree in Applied Sport Psychology from Adams State University in 2019.
