TROY, NY – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Department of Athletics celebrated a record-setting RPi Giving Day last month, raising more than $306,000 in support of the department's 600-plus student-athletes.
"RPi Day 2024 was a tremendous success thanks to our coaches, student-athletes, alumni, friends, and families," said Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Kristie Bowers. "It was truly special to see our RPI community come together to support RPI Athletics. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to each and every donor who generously contributed to RPI Athletics, helping enhance the student-athlete experience."
In total, RPI Athletics raised $306,063 from 1,960 different contributions. The amount of donations received constituted a 139 percent increase in funds raised during the athletic department's most recent official day of giving in November 2022.
2024 also marked the first year in which the Let's Go Red! Team Challenge was established, with winning programs receiving an additional $1,000 for their team fund, thanks to the generosity of Margaret and George Derrick '67!
