David Stevens Named Head Men’s Wrestling Coach

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of David Stevens as the first head men's wrestling coach in program history. Stevens will begin his duties at Arcadia on March 25 as he prepares for the program's first season of competition in 2025-26.

"I am deeply grateful to the hiring committee at Arcadia University for their warm welcome and the opportunity to join such a prestigious institution," Stevens explained. "Their genuine hospitality and enthusiasm for the wrestling program made me feel valued from the moment the hiring process started. I am inspired by their dedication to excellence and look forward to collaborating with them to elevate the men's wrestling program to great heights. Thank you for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity to contribute to the Arcadia community."

Stevens comes to Arcadia after most recently serving as an assistant coach at fellow Middle Atlantic Conference competitor Delaware Valley University. While with the Aggies, Stevens led hands-on one-on-one training, developed a lifting program specialized for wrestlers from weight class 165 to 285, assisted with recruiting, and led small focus sessions with personalized training and technique, film study, and weight management.

"We are very excited to welcome Coach Stevens into the Arcadia Athletics family and look forward to watching him grow our men's wrestling program from the ground up," Executive Director of Athletics Brian Granata said. "Stevens has a deep understanding of the landscape of wrestling in our geographical region and is well-versed in the MAC from his time as a student-athlete and coach within the conference. His passion for the sport and vision for developing a new program was evident from the first day we met him."

Prior to his time with Delaware Valley, Stevens gained experience as a graduate assistant at Messiah University, where he gained experience in all facets of program management. Stevens also served as a graduate assistant for BlackSheep Wrestling Club in Aston, Pa., Head Technician at The Cage Training Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and was an assistant coach at various high school and youth programs.

"I am thrilled beyond measure to take on the role of head coach for men's wrestling at Arcadia," Stevens said. "As a native of the area, Arcadia holds a special place in my heart, and the opportunity to contribute to its athletic, academic, and social fabric is incredibly fulfilling. Arcadia's commitment to excellence in all aspects resonates deeply with me, and I am eager to be part of a community that values holistic growth and development. Moreover, the chance to start a new program aligns perfectly with my lifelong dream, and I am excited to pour my passion, experience, and dedication into building a program that embodies the spirit of Arcadia and leaves a lasting impact on its athletes and the university as a whole."

Stevens graduated from Messiah in 2021 with a degree in Sport Management, and earned a Master's in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership in 2023. Stevens was a four-year member of the Falcons wrestling program. Stevens was a two-time All-American at 184 lbs, and won a MAC Championship in 2020.
