Thanks to the continued generosity of Forester alumni, the home venue for Lake Forest College volleyball matches and basketball games will soon have an exciting new look as renovations to the varsity gym in the Sports and Recreation Center are under way.

The enhancements include the replacement of the wood court and installation of new ADA accessible bleachers. While the current floor has been resurfaced several times and repairs have been made to the bleachers, both are original to the building, which was constructed in 1968. A new sound system and viewing area will also be part of the renovations.

The project is scheduled to be completed in July and the renovated venue's first competition will be the volleyball team's Forester Invitational September 6-7. Men's basketball will open the season at home against Milwaukee School of Engineering on November 8 and the home opener for the women will be November 12 against the same opponent.

"Once again I am extremely grateful for the generous support of our alumni," began Lake Forest College Vice President for Athletics and Career Advancement Jackie Slaats. "This is the latest of their many contributions to our Tradition of Excellence and I am anxious to see the final product this summer.

"We take a lot of pride in providing top-notch facilities for our student-athletes," commented Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart. "Planning for this project has been going on for some time and I look forward to seeing the project finalized and our Foresters competing in the new-look space next fall."
