Penguins hire Tim Loesch

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's volleyball announced the hiring of Tim Loesch as its new head coach Monday.

"We are so excited to welcome Tim to Dominican," athletics director Amy Henkelman said. "He brings a wealth of experience building programs into consistent winners. He also is a coach that brings a care for the student-athlete that exemplifies the Division II experience."

Loesch has 15 years of experience in the NCAA Division II and has had teams earn five AVCA Academic Awards as well as earning a top 10% in APR. He spent the last eight seasons at the University of Texas Permian Basin. While with the Falcons, Loesch delivered the first winning season since 2011 and the best winning percentage of the last decade with a 20-9 mark in 2019. He coached 13 all-conference players for UTPB and advanced to the conference tournament four times.

"I'd like to thank our athletic director Amy Henkelman and the entire search committee for the opportunity to lead Dominican volleyball," Loesch said. " During my campus visit, it became clear that Dominican is a special place, staffed by quality people and a great place to be.  I am excited to join the Penguin family and to begin building the program!"

Prior to his time with the Falcons, Loesch spent three season as the head coach for both beach and women's volleyball at Stetson University in the NCAA Division I. Prior to his arrival the Hatters had a 2-25 record and by his third year his team achieved an 18-16 mark, their first winning season in 17 years. He also started the beach volleyball team at the university and quickly built the team into a top program finishing in second place in the Atlantic Sun Conference in the program's second year of existence.

He started his collegiate coaching career at Limestone College where he spent seven seasons taking a 4-26 team and delivering a 19-17 record in his second year. Loesch recorded five consecutive winning seasons from 2005-2009 while earning the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year in 2006. He saw 12 players earn all-conference awards with four being selected all-region during his time with the Saints. Loesch was also tasked with starting a men's volleyball program at Limestone, recruiting and training 18 student athletes and leading them to a 12-10 record in their inaugural season.
