Madison College's Fye becomes full-time men's, women's soccer head coach

New role includes soccer coaching duties, intramural coordinator, PE instructor responsibilities

The Madison College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of current head men's soccer coach Logan Fye to serve in a new role that includes head women's soccer coach, intramural coordinator, and Physical Education instructor. Fye, who was hired in April 2023 and led the WolfPack men's team to a 6-5-4 record, becomes the third head coach in the decade-long history of the women's soccer program, and becomes the first person to lead both program's in the school's history. Additionally, Madison College will turn to Fye to help reinstate an intramural program that was lost during the pandemic in 2020, and will also instruct a soccer class in the Physical Education Department during the fall and spring semesters.

Fye takes over a women's soccer team that has won 67.3% of its games, claimed four Region 4 championships, and earned a NJCAA National Tournament appearance under previous head coach Matt Schwartz, who stepped down from the position earlier this month. The WolfPack went 8-4-3 and qualified for the Region 4 Division II Tournament in 2023.

"Logan did a great job leading our men's soccer program this past fall and I am excited to see what he does leading both our men's and women's programs in a full-time role in the years to come," commented Director of Athletics Jason Verhelst. "He is a good communicator, very organized, and detailed, so I am confident he will also excel in restarting our college's intramural programming along with teaching our brand new Physical Education soccer class. I am glad to finally have our head soccer coaching position full-time as I know it will benefit the student-athletes in both programs."

Prior to Madison College, Fye spent the past ten seasons with NCAA Division III Wisconsin Lutheran College, and worked his way up from graduate assistant to associate head coach of the men's program. In that role, Fye was an integral part of the team's recruiting, off-season workouts and training, soccer camps, and social media. While working with the Warriors, Fye also served in several coaching and administrative roles for Elmbrook United out of Brookfield, Wisconsin, starting in 2017, which included being the designated coach for high school-aged elite select teams. And since 2018, he has also been the Olympic Development Team coach and staff coach with the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. Fye spent four year working in various capacities with the Elm Grove Soccer Club starting in 2013.

Fye currently holds a USSF National "C" License, as well as USC Goalkeeping Level 1 & 2 Diplomas, USC Professional Development Certificate (Advanced Youth Coach), and USC Special Topics Diploma (The Art of the Assistant).

In addition to coaching, Fye boasts a standout playing career, which includes playing professionally for the Milwaukee Torrent of the National Premier Soccer League in 2015. The center midfielder spent four years on pitch at NCAA Division III UW-Whitewater, leading the Warhawks to three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Atlhetic Conference (WIAC) championships and subsequent appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Fye was named the 2012 WIAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year and was a three time WIAC All-Conference and All-Wisconsin State Team selection after tallying 17 goals and nine assists for his career. He graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Business Management degree, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education-Leadership & Innovation at WLC.

A Rockford, Illinois, native, Fye won a 2008 IHSA State Championship and was a three-time all-conference recipient at Winnebago High School. He finished his varsity career with 56 goals and 57 assists.

"I am incredibly excited to embark upon this new challenge of serving as the Head Men's & Women's Soccer Coach here at Madison College. My time on campus thus far has been extremely rewarding as this institution does things the right way and I couldn't be more proud to be a member of the WolfPack," commented Fye. "I am grateful for all of the time and effort that Matt Schwartz has put into building the women's soccer program into a Region 4 power. He has left the program in a strong position to continue on the path towards returning to the NJCAA National Tournament. I look forward to working with the women as we hit the ground running in preparation for the upcoming Fall 2024 season. Year one with the men has been fantastic and I'm confident that the squad is heading in the right direction and going forward with a strong recruiting class complementing an experienced returning group. Kudos to my assistant coaches for their efforts in helping build a strong foundation. The future of WolfPack soccer is promising and I am so very fortunate to serve as the leader of each the programs. Thank you to Madison College for trusting me with this responsibility. Let's go WolfPack!"
