SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University Athletics Department wants to thank the more than 500 donors that contributed to Athletics funds on the 2024 SRU Giving Day, which raised a total of $289,125 for the Athletics Department.
 
"We cannot thank our supporters enough for their generosity during Giving Day," said Roberta Page, SRU director of athletics. "We set an initial goal of 300 donors this year and we significantly beat that goal. We want to publicly thank all the supporters that donated to help improve the experiences for Slippery Rock student-athletes. We cannot be successful without your generous support and we are filled with gratitude after seeing the results of this year's Giving Day."
 
The SRU Foundation will donate an additional $1,000 to the three teams that raised the most money during Giving Day with football, baseball and track and field earning those bonuses. The Rock football team brought in $91,302 from 34 donors, while baseball raised $42,485 from 106 donors and track and field raised $32,220 from 39 donors.
 
This year's totals marked a 34.8 percent increase in the number of Athletics donors and a 48.8 percent increase in dollars raised for Athletics compared to the 2023 Giving Day.

In total, 527 donors generated $289,125 spread out across 15 funds that support individual teams and SRU Athletics as a whole. That amount represents more than 33 percent of the entire Giving Day total raised for SRU this year with the University bringing in an impressive $869,968 from 1,592 donors. All of those numbers mark an increase from the 2023 Giving Day, which raised $702,603 from 1,396 donors, including $194,316 for Athletics from 391 donors.
 
The funds raised on Giving Day will support numerous operational costs for Athletics and The Rock's 17 NCAA Division II teams, including student-athlete scholarships, operating expenses, travel costs, facility upgrades and equipment purchases.

Over the last three years, the Giving Day campaign at SRU has raised a total of $567,441 in support of Rock Athletics.
