Naber to lead AU women’s soccer

Aurora University today announced the hiring of Courtney Naber as head coach of its women's soccer program. Entering the 30th season of AU women's soccer in the fall of 2023, Naber becomes the sixth Head Coach and begins her tenure immediately.

"We are thrilled to have Courtney Naber join AU to lead the women's soccer program. Her pedigree as a high-level player and ambitious coach makes her a perfect fit," said Aurora University Vice President for Athletics Jim Hamad. "We anticipate that she will quickly return the program to a level in which they are competing for championships, while also remaining focused on student development."

Naber comes to AU after spending the previous two seasons as the assistant head coach of the University of Texas - Dallas women's soccer program. In two seasons, Naber has coached 15 All-American Southwest Conference selections and three All-Region players. UT-Dallas has made back-to-back trips to the ASC Championship Tournament with Naber on staff.

"I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead the women's soccer program at Aurora University and get started this spring," Naber said. "I want to thank the AU administration, Jim Hamad and everyone in the athletic department for being so welcoming ad excited for me to join them. The program has a rich history of excellence on the field and in the classroom and I intend on continuing that tradition while growing as a Head Coach."

Prior to her time with UT-Dallas, the native of Loveland, Ohio, Naber spent one season as the freshman coach at Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati. As as a collegiate athlete, she was a four-year starter at North Carolina-Asheville, helping guide the Bulldogs to three trips to the Big South Championship Tournament. Naber closed her career as a second-time All-Big South selection for UNC-Asheville as a senior, leading the Bulldogs in goals, points, shots and shots on goal that fall. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in neuroscience from UNC-Asheville in 2018.

Naber takes over a Spartan program that was 6-8-4 overall in 2022 and in 29 seasons of play holds a 362-169-38 record with 16 conference championships and 11 NCAA Division III tournament appearances.
