Montana Tech’s executive associate athletic director was in Butte Justice Court on Thursday, charged with several felony drug offenses.
Nicholas Kelly Bowsher, 44, of Butte appeared before Judge Ben Pezdark, charged with five counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute. The drugs reportedly included ecstasy, LSD, ketamine, cocaine, and MDA, a synthetic drug similar to ecstasy.
Bowsher was also charged with three felony counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, which included crack cocaine, methamphetamine and hydrocodone, and one felony count of possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture. A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, described in court documents as a large digital scale and empty capsules, was also added to the charges.
Bowsher, according to its website, has been with Montana Tech since 2011. He was promoted to his current position in 2016.

Bowsher is being represented by Charles McIntosh of Vicevich Law in Butte.
“We were surprised to hear about the charges that are alleged,” said McIntosh. “We ask that the same presumption of innocence is extended to him, as anyone would want extended to themselves.”
A spokesperson from Montana Tech issued the following statement:
“Montana Tech is aware of the arrest and charges. As this is a personnel matter, we are unable to provide a comment.”
Bond has been set at $500,000.
