Job Description

DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS’ COMMUNICATIONS, Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation (DAPER)-Administration, to report directly to the director of athletics and department head of DAPER and serve on the senior leadership team of DAPER, which includes strategic planning, serving on DAPER and campus-wide committees, decision making relative to the department, and representing the department at various functions. Will directly supervise a staff of three full-time employees and hire and train interns and contracted services staff in supporting a broad-based program that fields twenty-nine NCAA Division III varsity teams and four Division I rowing teams. General responsibilities include the overall supervision, organization, and management of the DAPER Athletics Communications Office and public relations functions of the varsity athletics programs; and supporting the development, coordination, and implementation of effective communication strategies and initiatives that create recognition of the achievements, programs, teams, and participants across the spectrum of DAPER programming.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; four years’ athletic promotions, sports information, communications, promotions, or related field, preferably at the college or university level; excellent administrative, organizational, written, interpersonal, and computer skills; attention to detail; ability to problem solve; and working knowledge of statistical programs, current design and desktop publishing software, and website maintenance. PREFERRED:  master’s degree.  Job #23847-8

Salary range: high $80,000 – 100,000

This position requires working weekend and evening hours and occasional travel.
