BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bloomsburg director of athletics Dr. Michael McFarland announced the hiring of Lee Anderson as the new head coach for the Huskies volleyball team. Anderson is just the second head coach in the program's six-year history.

"The Bloomsburg volleyball team welcomes a long-tenured leader in Coach Anderson as just the second head coach of the program," remarked Dr. McFarland. "I am confident in his ability to not only lead the talented group of student-athletes currently here at Bloomsburg but bring in tremendous young women who will continue to elevate the Husky volleyball program in the PSAC and nationally."

"We look forward to welcoming Coach Anderson to Bloomsburg. His impressive history of leading student-athletes to success on the court and in the classroom will make him a valuable member of the coaching staff. We're proud to welcome him to the Husky family," said Bashar W. Hanna, president.

Anderson joins the Huskies after three seasons at the helm of Lake Erie College. During his time with the Storm, Anderson led 22 student-athletes to Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) Academic All-Conference honors and twice earned the AVCA All-Academic Team award. He was instrumental in all social media content for the Storm volleyball program, including graphics, messaging, and important alerts.

"I would like to thank athletic director Dr. McFarland and the search committee for the opportunity to become the Husky Volleyball Team's next head coach," remarked Coach Anderson.

Under his guidance, the Storm raised their team GPA from 3.24 to 3.62 and boasted a 100% graduation rate among student-athletes who completed their eligibility. Anderson brought in 18 student-athletes to Lake Erie over his two-and-half years of recruiting, including a class for the 2024 campaign.

"We are tremendously excited to welcome Coach Anderson to Bloomsburg," remarked senior vice president and provost Dr. Diana Rogers-Adkinson. "Coach Anderson demonstrated a remarkable talent for inspiring growth from his student-athletes, both on and off of the court, especially in the classroom!"

Anderson is no stranger to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as he spent three highly successful seasons at Edinboro as an assistant coach from 2017-2019. During his time with the Fighting Scots, Anderson helped the team to 52 wins, with an overall .600 winning percentage. Edinboro earned AVCA Academic Team honors with a team GPA of 3.32. The Fighting Scots offense was ranked #5 in PSAC during his time with Edinboro and Anderson was responsible for all aspects of the serve receive and implementation of the transition offense tactics.

He was the Assistant Director of a successful Edinboro University Volleyball Camp program and was responsible for 75-100 campers each summer and 12-15 staff members while raising money for the volleyball program.

Before Edinboro, Anderson spent 10 seasons as the head volleyball coach at the University of Minnesota Crookston from 2007-2016. During his tenure, he took over a team that started at the bottom of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and transformed it into a program that consistently challenged to make the playoffs in one of the toughest DII volleyball conferences in the nation. Anderson turned in the most successful six-year record of the program's history and led the Golden Eagles to 67 total wins during that time which included a .600 winning percentage against non-conference opponents.

Before that, Anderson was the head coach at Glenville State College from 2005-2006. During the 2006 season, the Pioneers established a new school record for conference victories and won their first conference tournament in five years.

Anderson was also an assistant coach at Ferris State for two seasons. In 2004 the Bulldogs finished the season ranked #16 with a 25-7 record in which they won the GLIAC Championship and earned an NCAA Tournament berth.

McFarland further stated, "I would like to thank our search committee for their diligence over the past month. The search committee brought a great group of potential leaders forward in its quest to identify an individual who can continue to grow the volleyball program and get it to the top of the PSAC. Again, welcome to the Husky Family Coach Anderson and Heather."

"The moment I stepped on campus I could tell that Bloomsburg and the community are a special place," continued Coach Anderson. "I'm eager to help the athletes grow and develop on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. I am very excited to help lead the Husky volleyball team into the future."

Anderson begins his tenure at Bloomsburg on March 25, 2024 and the Huskies are slated to begin the 2024 campaign at the Fairmont State Tournament on September 5, 2024.
