Texas State Receives $4 Million Gift to South End Zone Project

Anonymous donation is one of the largest ever to the athletic department

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State Athletics received a $4 million gift – one of the largest ever made to the athletic department – to help with the $37 million football complex renovation and addition at Bobcat Stadium. The donor has requested to remain anonymous.

The gift is part of a planned $37 million, privately funded renovation project to the complex, which includes a new 8,000 square foot weight room, a new players lounge, new training room with hydrotherapy, individual position meeting rooms, upgraded conference rooms with additional offices, recruiting room and additional premium hospitality spaces for fans to enhance the gameday experience.

Lifted by the support so far from numerous donors, construction will begin on the End Zone Complex in June. The fundraising campaign to fully support the project is still ongoing.

"After my first interaction with these donors in my office a couple months ago, I understood their passion for Texas State and how important a winning football program was to them," said Texas State President Kelly Damphousse. "This gift allows us to enhance our facility and to directly impact the student-athlete experience, while continuing to turn Texas State football into a national brand."

"These wonderful donors understand our vision for our football program and what it will take to be successful in the Sun Belt and nationally," said Director of Athletics Don Coryell. "They are very passionate about what a winning program will do for our university and understand facilities play a critical role. We are incredibly appreciative of their gift that will dramatically change the lives of our student-athletes and help establish a new future for our football program."

The anonymous donor(s) will become the 73rd member(s) of the Texas State University Heroes, a group of individuals, companies and foundations that have donated $1 million or more to Texas State. They are also the 21st group or individuals to give $1 million or more to Texas State Athletics.

The gift, which is pending Texas State University System Board of Regents approval, moves the university toward a major goal of renovating the Football Complex as part of the $250 million NEXT IS NOW capital campaign.
