Schultz Elevated to Deputy AD for Internal Operations

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Department of Athletics promoted Eric Schultz to Deputy Athletic Director for Internal Operations, announced by vice president of athletics Adrian Rodriguez.
 
Schultz previously served as Associate AD for Compliance at The Island University since July 2022.
 
"I would like to thank President Dr. Kelly Miller, AD Rodriguez, John LaRue and the University's entire leadership team for this incredible opportunity and for their continued vision in me. I am honored to serve our student-athletes, coaches and University in such a capacity and I am more than excited for the future of our department," Schultz said. "There's never been a better time to be an Islander and we will continue to grow and achieve our goals."
 
Since arriving at A&M-Corpus Christi, Schultz has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Islanders compliance office, implemented a new compliance system and streamlined contemporary procedures. He also has direct oversight over multiple sports and oversees the certification of over 200 student-athletes annually.
 
Schultz also installed an NIL program and partnered with INFLUXER to create personalized merchandise for Islanders student-athletes.

His collaborative and upbeat approach will serve Islanders Athletics well as our new Deputy AD for Internal Operations role," Rodriguez said.
 
Schultz arrived at A&M-Corpus Christi after six years as Associate AD for Compliance at New Mexico. He oversaw all compliance and risk management in a program with 18 sports, 450 student-athletes and 150 coaches and staff. He provided department leadership and oversight for all department, university, conference and NCAA compliance.
 
Prior to joining the Lobos, Schultz served as the Director of Compliance at Eastern Illinois. There he was responsible for the department's compliance with NCAA and Ohio Valley Conference rules and regulations. Schultz served as the sport supervisor for men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis and softball. He also assisted with development and corporate sales.
 
Before Eastern Illinois, Schultz was the assistant director of compliance at Northern Colorado. He was responsible for handling all aspects of initial eligibility in addition to monitoring all athletic related activities and overseeing transfer student policies and procedures. Schultz also served as a compliance services assistant and financial aid advisor at SIU Edwardsville from 2008-09.
 
Schultz earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Wisconsin-Parkside in 2007 and earned a master's degree in sport administration from SIU Edwardsville in 2009. While at Wisconsin-Parkside, he participated as a decathlete on the track and field squad.
 
Schultz and his wife Amy have three sons, Jaxon, Clay and Reed.
