BOISE, Idaho - Boise State Athletics received a gift commitment that will total $1.25 million between current-use funds through a Lyle Smith Society membership and a planned estate gift, director of athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Monday. The donor wishes to remain anonymous.

The gift is earmarked to support the Boise State gymnastics program, which earlier Monday qualified for its 15th consecutive trip to the NCAA Regional Championships.

"We are excited and grateful to have a member of Bronco Nation commit to the long-term vision of Boise State Athletics in such a substantial way," Dickey said. "This blended gift is the perfect example of how a loyal and charitable Bronco can make an immediate impact and create a lasting legacy, while adhering to their personal financial and philanthropic goals. Planned giving offers donors the ability to play a critical role in charting our course now and make a gift that will leave a permanent mark on our institution and department."

By pledging a significant planned gift, the donor earns a place in the Barnwell Society, which recognizes individuals who have chosen to benefit Boise State University through their deferred charitable estate plans. The society is named for Bishop Middleton S. Barnwell, Boise State's first president.

One of the simplest ways is to designate Boise State Athletics as a beneficiary of your will or trust. Such a designation can be for a specific amount, a percentage or even a specific asset. Many giving options are available to be recognized as a member of the Barnwell Society; some examples include bequesting retirement accounts; appreciated stock or securities; charitable gift annuities; or real estate or other property. Estate gifts may be directed to any eligible fund within Bronco Athletics, such as an existing scholarship; the creation of a new one; any individual sport program; or an area of greatest need.
