MAAC Announces Staff Updates

EDISON, NJ (Oct. 24, 2024) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Commissioner Travis Tellitocci, has announced the promotion of Caitlin Lowe and the addition of Kristine Monaghan and AJ Schaufler to the conference office staff.
 
“I'm excited to continue building a strong staff that will help us better serve our membership and improve our conference operations,” said MAAC commissioner Travis Tellitocci. “Caitlin has done a great job working with our women's basketball programs over the past few years and overseeing the hosting of major events like the NCAA Women's Basketball Regional and the NCAA Women's Rowing National Championships. AJ and Kristine bring great experience from both the collegiate and professional levels. I’m confident their contributions will strengthen the conference’s operations and enhance our student-athlete experience. With their backgrounds at the NBA and Syracuse, we look forward to the fresh perspectives and energy they will bring to the Conference office.”
 
Lowe has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner, Sport Administration after previously serving as Director of Women’s Basketball Operations and Rowing since her hire in January of 2020. In her new role, Lowe oversees the in-season administration and championships for Men’s Soccer, Softball and Rowing. She is responsible for the purchasing and ordering of all conference equipment, apparel and signage. Additionally, she will continue to have oversight of league awards and student-athlete participant gifts.
 
Monaghan comes to the MAAC as Assistant Commissioner of Business & Administration. Her responsibilities will include overseeing the conference's financial operations and managing the overall office administration. Monaghan will develop, implement, and manage financial policies and procedures for the league office, oversee human resources policies and procedures, and have oversight of the day-to-day operations of the MAAC office.
 
Monaghan joins the MAAC after previously working with the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 2020. While at the NBA she served as the Manager of Global Events, after previously holding the roles of Associate Manager of Global Strategy & Innovation and Coordinator of Team Marketing & Business Operations. Prior to the NBA, Monaghan worked as Coordinator of Business and Finance at Wagner College in the Department of Athletics from September 2018 to March 2020, and gained experience at Penn State University Department of Athletics as a Shadowing Senior Associate Athletic Director of Administration and Men's Basketball Team Manager from September 2016 to May 2018.
 
Monaghan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Penn State University (2018) and a Master of Business Administration in Management from Wagner College (2019).
 
Schaufler joins the MAAC as the Associate Commissioner for Compliance and Student-Athlete Development. He will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of NCAA compliance, conference governance, and student-athlete development for the MAAC office. Schaufler will work directly with conference membership compliance staffs, SWAs, and athletic directors as a resource for all NCAA compliance and governance matters. He will also serve as the conference liaison to all campus SAAC representatives and administrators as well as FARs and Academic Administrators in conjunction with the MAAC's student-athlete development efforts and initiatives. 

Prior to joining the MAAC, Schaufler was the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance at Syracuse University. In his role, he was primarily responsible for the day-to-day compliance operations of the football program. At various times during his stay at Syracuse he was also the primary compliance contact for the Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Men's Lacrosse, Women's Lacrosse, Softball, Men's Rowing, and Field Hockey programs - ensuring adherence to NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference and University rules and regulations. Before joining the Orange, Schaufler spent nearly five years at Monmouth University, serving as both an Associate and Assistant Athletics Director during his tenure. He also has stops at Stony Brook, Fresno State, Columbia and Coppin State Universities in his athletics career.

A 2010 graduate of Mount St. Mary’s University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Schaufler also played lacrosse for the Mountaineers, winning a MAAC Championship and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament his senior year. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor in 2013 from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
