Term-in-Ology: Use of Tobacco Products
With spring in the air and the NCAA Division I Baseball season in progress, it is worth noting that the NCAA prohibits use of tobacco products by all game personnel (e.g., coaches, trainers, managers and game officials) in all sports (not just baseball!) during practice and competition. Uniform penalties as determined by the applicable rules-making committees and sports committees shall be established for such use.
NCAA rules also dictate that the use of tobacco products by a student-athlete is prohibited during practice and competition. A student-athlete who uses tobacco products during a practice or competition shall be disqualified for the remainder of that practice or competition.
