MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College named Zack Votra as its next women's soccer coach Friday (March 17) afternoon.

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Larry Hiser and the entire search committee for my appointment as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Marietta College," said Votra. "Marietta has felt like home since my interview, and everyone on campus has proven that to me in my first few days here.  I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead Marietta College women's soccer program and I'm looking forward to getting started and working with this excellent group of young women."

Votra comes to Marietta by way of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, where he served as the Assistant women's soccer coach for the last two seasons.  He helped guide the Saints to a 13-12-5 record over that span, helping establish the team's system and style of play and conducting team training sessions and workouts.  Votra was also deeply involved in the recruiting process.

"We are excited and honored to welcome Zack into the Marietta College family and community," Marietta Director of Athletics Larry Hiser said. "Zack emerged as the leading candidate in a competitive candidate pool. He brings previous head coaching experience to the our position and we are confident that he will continue building Pioneer women's soccer into a winning program."

Votra has previous head coaching experience as he was at the helm at SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury, New York from February 2016 to August 2018.  Votra led the Timberwolves to a 10-19-1 record through the programs first two seasons.

Votra played collegiately at SUNY Canton, starting one of the nine contests he appeared in. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Sports Management in May 2014. A native of Parishville, NY, Votra was a four-sport athlete at Parishville-Hopkinton competing in soccer, baseball, basketball, and lacrosse and he was an All-Academic scholar.
