O'Dette Finalizes Coaching Staff For 2025 Season

Head Coach Rick O'Dette announces addition of Jaylen Guy, Alex Frapart, and Lou Pastore

LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College head baseball coach Rick O'Dette has finalized his coaching staff for his first year with the Moccasins with the addition of three assistant coaches.

"I am excited to announce the addition of Alex Frapart, Jaylen Guy, and Lou Pastore to the Florida Southern coaching staff," said O'Dette. "As we grow in our program, it is essential to add an elite class of coaches to our team. These guys are ready to get started and enthusiastic about bringing Florida Southern to a championship level."

Alex Frapart followed Coach O'Dette to Lakeland after spending the last season as an assistant coach at Saint Leo University under O'Dette. A key part in the success of the pitching staff at SLU, Frapart brought coaching experience, previously spending four seasons with Allan Hancock College as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. In 2021, he led the Bulldogs to a conference-best winning percentage and 12 players named All-Conference, including the Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year. Prior to his time at AHC, Frapart spent three years at the University of Antelope Valley in California.

"I am excited to join the staff here at FSC," said Frapart. "Coach O'Dette, Caldwell, and Wydetic are relentless in their pursuit for a national championship. We have a great group of young men who share that same intent and focus. I feel very fortunate and blessed to be a part of an amazing college with such an amazing culture. Our mission remains the same: Cary, North Carolina."

Frapart is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Antelope Valley and a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree from Florida Atlantic University. Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Frapart assisted in training several professional baseball and football players, including Le'Veon Bell, Miguel Cabrera, and JD Martinez while working for Bomarito Performance Systems in Miami, Fla. Last summer, Frapart spent time with YD Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Jaylen Guy joins the Florida Southern coaching staff in his first coaching position after spending five seasons competing in Division I baseball. Guy spent four seasons at Liberty University with 183 games and 179 starts with the Flames. He totaled 156 hits and seven homers across his career with Liberty, having a career-best .309 batting average in the 2023 season. After four great years with Liberty, Guy spent his final year of eligibility at the University of Florida with a Gators team that made it to the College World Series in 2024. Guy played in 38 games with 19 starts at center field, where he had seven runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases. He pitch ran and scored the game-winning run in the 13th inning against Clemson to advance to the College World Series in early June. Guy had one appearance in the CWS as a defensive replacement versus Texas A&M on June 19. He received his undergraduate certificate in Sports Management from UF in May 2024.

Lou Pastore is the final addition to the Rick O'Dette coaching staff as an assistant coach with over 30 years of coaching experience in different sports. Despite assisting in various capacities across different sports, Pastore always turns back to coaching baseball as his main passion.

"The difference between a successful coach and a great coach, is the ability to inspire and empower their players," said Pastore. "This is why I am so excited and thankful to have joined Southern Baseball. Coach O'Dette and the rest of the coaching staff embody the above quote, and I also feel the same way about the development of not just great players but great men. FSC has a long proud history in baseball, with 9 national championships and to be a part of bringing them a 10th is exciting, to say the least. I am thankful to have the support of my wife and five children. To spend time on the ballfield is what I love doing. I would also like to thank coach O'Dette and FSC for this opportunity to be a part of Mocs baseball and the start of a new era in a proud tradition at Florida Southern College."
