DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The College of St. Scholastica Director of Athletics and Recreation Jessica Cherry announced the hiring of Chelsea Meierotto as the head coach of the Saints volleyball team on Tuesday afternoon. Meierotto's official start date will be on Monday, April 3.

"I appreciate the fine work the committee did and am excited to welcome Chelsea as part of our Saints family," Cherry said. "Chelsea's enthusiasm and vision for CSS Volleyball and its student-athletes are extremely thrilling. I look forward to Chelsea's wealth of knowledge, experience and commitment to academic and championship excellence."

Meierotto becomes the sixth Head Volleyball Coach to lead the program after longtime head coach Dana Moore announced her retirement after 26 seasons with the team.

"I feel very grateful to be joining the St. Scholastica community", Meierotto stated. "I want to thank the search committee and Athletics Director Jessica Cherry for giving me this opportunity to lead the Saints volleyball program."

Meierotto comes from Northland College (Wis.), where she led the LumberJills the past four seasons. Meierotto was named UMAC Coach of the Year in the 2020-21 season and coached three Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference players. She also served as the Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Women Administrator.

A native of Washburn, Wis., she received her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth where she was a member of the UMD volleyball program. During her time with the Bulldogs, she was named Defensive Specialist of the Year in 2005 and earned two trips to the Elite Eight in 2004 and 2006.

Meierotto added, "while it has been extremely emotional and hard to say goodbye to my volleyball family at Northland College, I look forward to this new adventure at CSS. I'm excited to get to work and be part of an institution with a history of success academically and athletically."

Aside from her passion for volleyball, Meierotto enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family, especially with her seven nieces and nephews.
