Monroe Elevated to Women's Soccer Head Coach

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - Manchester University Director of Athletics Rick Espeset has announced that assistant women's soccer coach Donyé Monroe has been elevated to head women's soccer coach.

Former head coach Katie Mitchell recently stepped down from the position following two seasons at the helm of the program to take a coaching position in North Carolina. 

Monroe has served as an assistant coach for the Spartans for the past two season. During her first season on the Manchester sidelines, the Manchester women's soccer program produced a school-best 10 Academic All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honorees. Laying the foundation to rebuild the program, Coach Monroe assisted Manchester to a 1-0 OT win over regional rival Huntington for the first time in 15 years. During the past two seasons, a trio of Spartans, Adelle Stanko, Jayden Murrary, and Bridget Nash have earned Honorable Mention All-HCAC recognition.

Prior to arriving in North Manchester, Monroe spent time as the assistant soccer coach at Villa Rica High School located in Georgia. She also spent time as an assistant coach at Bay Springs Middle School and time as a head coach at the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA).

From 2015-17, Monroe was a member of the University of South Carolina Upstate women's soccer program.

Monroe earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from the University of West Georgia in 2020. She also minored in psychology. In 2021, Monroe earned a master's degree in sport management from the University of West Georgia.
