Job Description
Lawrence University openly invites applications for the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach. The assistant coach will be responsible for assistant the head coach in development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the men’s and women’s swim and dive programs.
Lawrence University is a member of the NCAA Division III, Midwest Conference, Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, and Midwest Fencing Conference. Lawrence currently fields teams in 22 intercollegiate sports (24 after the start of the 2024-25 academic year) with approximately 365 scholar-athletes and is committed to a well-balanced program promoting excellence in both.
Responsibilities
· Assist he head coach in recruiting and retaining student-athletes who fit the mission of the University and creating the culture for the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams.
· Expected to be familiar with and abide by the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Midwest Conference, and Lawrence University.
· Assist the head coach with organizing and conducting practice sessions.
· Assist the head coach with meet execution, management, and operations.
· Responsible for the academic progress of student-athletes, assisting in the development of each student-athlete’s graduation plan, and ensuring academic accountability by continually monitoring progress reports during the entire academic year.
· Expected to work with Compliance Director on all eligibility and compliance regulations.
· Responsible to know current Lawrence University rules and policies.
· Enhances professional growth by attending clinics, workshops, etc.
· Responsible for team travel – making appropriate reservations for vehicles, hotel, and meal service well in advance.
· Assist with game day management of an assigned sport.
· Responsible for any other details of their sport or any other additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Minimum Requirements
Lifeguard certification required.
Bachelor’s degree required.
First aid and AED certification needed prior to conducting athletics related activities.
Must have successful completion of criminal and MVR background check, meet University Authorized Driver Policy requirements, and favorable completion of reference checks.
