Robinson Steps Down as Head Tennis Coach

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Jordon Robinson is stepping down from his current role at BC to pursue another opportunity outside of college athletics.

Robinson departs the program after piloting the Eagles for ten seasons. During his tenure, BC became a mainstay in the ODAC Tournament as both of his squads made the postseason in all but one season.

"It was a difficult decision to leave Bridgewater," said Robinson. "I am grateful for my time here and for the friendships I've made made with coworkers, but most of all for the student-athletes I have had the privilege of working with. Im excited for a new chapter in my life and wish nothing for the best for Bridgewater and the athletic department."

The Woodstock, Va.native found immediate success in his first season in the Crimson and Gold as both squads made appearances in the ODAC Semifinals. The men's tennis program would make three-straight appearances in the conference semifinals in his first three seasons including the 2017 campaign that saw home take home ODAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year honors. In total, the program appeared in the ODAC Tournament 15 times over Robinson's time at BC including six trips to the semifinals.

Robinson amassed 24 All-ODAC selections during his time at BC, highlighted by three-time ODAC Player of the Year Canon Secord (2019, 2021 and 2022). In addition to the accolades, Robinson is also responsible for coaching both of the winningest singles players in the history of each program in Secord and Whitney Kiser.

"We wish Jordon and his family the best in their next venture in life," said Director of Athletics Curt Kendall. "From the very beginning of his time at BC he raised the bar and took the program to new heights, before the recruiting landscape of college tennis changed dramatically. We thank him for his hard work and dedication at Bridgewater over the last decade."

Prior to coaching at BC, Robinson spent time as the head coach at ODAC foe Ferrum from 2011-2013 during the Panthers time as a member of the USA South. A local product, Robinson also spent time as the head girls' tennis coach at Central High School in nearby Woodstock, Va and spent time as an assistant tennis coach for the men's tennis program at James Madison University.

A search for Bridgewater men's and women's tennis' next head coach will begin immediately.
