Brad Johnson Named Women's Golf Coach

Brad Johnson spent the last year as the head coach at Lewis and Clark College in Oregon
Hempstead, NY - Brad Johnson, a National Championship-winning coach, has been named the head women's golf coach at Hofstra University, it was announced today by Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. Johnson joins the Pride after spending the past year as the head men's and women's golf coach at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. 

"Brad brings a winning pedigree to our women's golf program," said Cole Jr. "He has been successful at every stop of his career and I look forward to him continuing that at Hofstra."

Johnson joined the staff at Lewis and Clark in January 2022 and coached both teams during the spring season. Under his tutelage, Kamryn Ford of the Pioneers women's team earned a top 10 finish at the Northwest Conference Championship. This past fall, he oversaw a schedule that saw the women compete in three tournaments and the men in four. 


Prior to his stint at Lewis and Clark, Johnson spent a year as the head coach of the La Verne Leopards, where he helped the men's team to a top-10 national ranking. Prior to moving to southern California, Johnson spent four and a half years as the head coach the New York University golf programs. He led NYU to the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship title, the same year in which the men's team qualified for the national tournament for the second straight year. His NYU teams won five straight conference titles between 2016 and 2020. 


A finalist for national coach of the year in 2018, Johnson was selected regional coach of the year that season. Over a decade as an NCAA Division III coach, Johnson has coached seven All-Americans, nine all-region selections, and more than 40 all-conference performers. 


Prior to coaching at NYU, Johnson was the head coach at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. In his three seasons, he took the women's team from unranked to the top 45 in the nation and the men's team from 80th to 23rd.


Johnson previously served as a golf professional at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, and at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California He also worked as a certified professional golf coach at Golftec in Santa Monica, California.


Johnson earned a degree in journalism with a minor in English from the University of Northern Colorado and a master's in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
