6/20/2024 10:00:00 AM

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After 12 seasons at the helm of North Florida women's golf, Joanne Berglund will be moving on as the head coach of the program.

Berglund has accepted a position in which she will start another women's golf program at a noted Division I institution and anticipates an announcement in the near future. UNF is appreciative of Berglund's commitment to the program and the great student-athletes she has led over the past decade.

"We are so appreciative of the impact Coach [Joanne] Berglund has made on the UNF women's golf program and its student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Nick Morrow. "She started the program from scratch as the first ever head women's golf coach and leaves behind a lasting legacy. We wish her the best, as she starts the next chapter of her career."

Since being named the inaugural head coach in May of 2011, Berglund has led the Ospreys to three ASUN Championships, including back-to-back titles only four years after the program's inception, and four NCAA Regional appearances. She has guided UNF to 16 tournament team titles and was either the champion or runner-up at six of the last 11 conference championship events.

The three-time ASUN Coach of the Year assisted in developing some of the best student-athletes in the conference. During her time at UNF, Berglund has produced:

  • 2x ASUN Golfers of the Year
  • 3x ASUN Scholar-Athletes of the Year
  • 29x All-ASUN honorees (14 - 1st team | 13 - 2nd team | 2 - 3rd team)
  • 16x ASUN All-Academic selections
  • 13x ASUN All-Tournament honorees
  • 10x ASUN All-Freshmen selections
  • 37x ASUN Golfer of the Week selections
  • 71x ASUN Academic Honor Roll members
  • 6x Tournament individual medalists
  • 38x WGCA All-America Scholars
  • 6x CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-District selections
  • NCAA Championship Individual qualifier (Christin Eisenbeiss, 2021)
  • NCAA Regional Individual qualifier (Christin Eisenbeiss, 2023 & 2024)
  • 100% graduate rate throughout all 12 seasons

On top of the ASUN Championship tournament titles in 2016, 2017 and 2022, Berglund was also part of the 2015-16 Osprey women's golf team that was recently inducted into the 2024 UNF Hall of Fame class. The squad earned the program's first two team tournament titles at the Amelia Island Collegiate and the ASUN Championship, as well as its first appearance at an NCAA Regionals in Baton Rouge, La.

This past season, Berglund helped rack up seven conference honors, most of any ASUN program, between three different student-athletes, highlighted by senior Christin Eisenbeiss taking home back-to-back ASUN Golfer the Year honors. She made her fourth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and became the first Osprey in program history to earn a sponsor's exemption for a professional event at the 2022 PXG Women's Match Play Championship.

Berglund also notched the second-best scoring average in program history at 292.2 per round during the 2023-24 season. The 36-hole and 54-hole program records also were stellar marks made this year with five top-four tournament finishes for the highest NCAA ranking among all ASUN programs.

A national search will be commenced immediately to find the next head coach of North Florida women's golf.
