HANOVER, N.H. – Mike Harrity, the Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation, announced today that Dartmouth has extended the contract of Reid Cashman, the Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey, through the 2027-28 season. Cashman just finished his third year at the helm of the program. "Reid Cashman's vision for our hockey program and leading the young men both on and off the ice is inspiring, and his sheer commitment to excellence is contagious," Harrity said. "He is an educator who is passionate about Dartmouth, and I have no doubt his restless desire for growth and improvement will elevate our program to new heights in the coming years. We are thrilled to partner with Reid and his staff on the journey ahead."

The 22nd head coach in the history of the Big Green men's hockey program, Cashman was hired following the 2019-20 season from the Washington Capitals, where he was an assistant coach. His first year of play was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so his first game behind the bench did not come until the 2021-22 season.

Cashman has coached several all-conference student-athletes during his time with the Big Green, including goaltender Clay Stevenson, who signed with the Washington Capitals after the 2021-22 season.

This year, the Big Green entered the postseason with the fourth-best penalty-kill in the nation at 85.8%.

Last April, USA Hockey announced that Cashman would serve as an assistant with the 2023 United States National Junior Team coaching staff at the World Juniors, marking his first appearance representing the U.S. on the international stage. Competing at the 2023 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship this past December and January, Cashman helped guide the U.S. to a bronze medal, its 14th tournament medal.

Cashman arrived in Hanover after spending two seasons with the Capitals, playing an integral role in bringing along the franchise's young talent as he was responsible for building staff and running the Capitals' Development Camps. He previously spent two seasons as an assistant with the Hershey Bears, the Capitals' AHL affiliate.

Cashman served five seasons behind the bench of his alma mater, Quinnipiac, three as an assistant and two as associate head coach. He helped the Bobcats to two Frozen Four appearances — finishing both as the national finalist in 2013 and 2016 — three conference regular-season titles and the program's first postseason tournament in 2016. From the 2012-13 season through his final year in 2015-16, Cashman helped the Bobcats record the second-most wins in the nation, as well as the top power-play and penalty-kill figures.

A three-time All-American and Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist (2005) at Quinnipiac, Cashman was a two-time captain and holds the school records for career assists (125) and points (148) for a defenseman.
