Cross elevated to Vice President for Athletics

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville University President Dr. Thomas White has announced that Chris Cross' title has been changed from athletic director to Vice President for Athletics.

The decision was approved by the University's Board of Trustees at its meeting during Homecoming Weekend.

He is one of seven vice presidents along with Dr. White to serve on the University's cabinet.

Cross, who has been at Cedarville since 2004, was promoted to athletic director on February 18, 2022.

He oversees the Yellow Jackets' 16 NCAA Division II varsity sports and cheerleading as well as the athletic training program.

Cross became the University's first full-time Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in 2014 following a ten-year career in the school's athletic training department.

He came to campus as an assistant professor of athletic training and eventually took on the role of head athletic trainer in 2005.

Cross has been active in the local community by serving on the Cedar Cliff Local School Board and is a member at Heritage Fellowship Church in Springfield.

He is a 1996 graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College with a degree in sports medicine and earned a master's in athletic training from West Virginia University in 2001.

Chris and his wife, Barbara, reside in Cedarville and have three sons.
