JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 6, 2023) – During a press conference held Friday afternoon, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Bank of Tennessee officially announced the naming of the field at William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium. The field will be named "Bank of Tennessee Field" at William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium. 
 
With dignitaries from around the region in attendance, the announcement was made inside Greene Stadium. 
 
"This is such an exciting and special day," said ETSU Athletic Director Dr. Richard Sander. "Mr. William B. Greene, Jr., Dr. Linda Latimer and the Bank of Tennessee have made such an impact with ETSU Athletics and our entire region. We are extremely grateful for their commitments made to our athletic program and university." 
 
This decision comes in recognition of the invaluable contributions made by the Bank of Tennessee in supporting ETSU Athletics and the "Be Great" program, which aims at fostering comprehensive development for student-athletes.
 
"Bank of Tennessee is thrilled for the opportunity to have the naming rights of the field and to continue to support our regional university," said William B. Greene, Jr. "ETSU has a massive impact on where we live and we look forward to our long-standing partnership." 
 
On Friday, the Bank of Tennessee logo was displayed on the field turf, which is visible between the 20 and 30-yard lines on both sides of the field. In addition, the Bank of Tennessee Field logo is displayed on the wall in the north end zone of the stadium. 
 
"As we move forward with our partnership, it is an honor to pay tribute to the invaluable contributions of Mr. Greene by naming the field after Bank of Tennessee for future generations to know and appreciate the impact he's had on our region and the University," said Will Barrett, President and CEO of Bank of Tennessee and its divisions. 
 
In the fall of 2017, ETSU began playing football on campus inside William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium. ETSU has ranked in the top-five among Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs in stadium percentage capacity since opening in 2017, including being the national leader in 2018. In the 35 games played in William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium, there have been 26 sellout crowds, including five with over 10,000 fans. 
 
Buccaneer fans will get their first look at the new logos as ETSU takes on Mercer for its Homecoming game inside of Greene Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
