Olson Takes Reins of Volleyball Program

Lisa Olson has been named Interim Head Volleyball Coach, announced Director of Athletics Corey Goff on Wednesday.

Olson was previously the Prairie Fire's Assistant Volleyball Coach starting this fall. Olson has coached volleyball for over 20 years. She has coached at Moline High School and Geneseo High School as well as coaching Club Volleyball for Moline, Platform Elite, the Iowa Rockets, and Apex. Her Club Teams have played in Nationals four times.

"We are lucky to have Lisa Olson on our staff to lead the program through this transition," said Goff. "Coach Olson has brought a great knowledge of the game to the program, as well as a passion for coaching these young women."

On top of her coaching, Olson has also played high level volleyball in the Quad Cities area for the last 35+ years, including USAVB.

"I'm very excited to be coaching this great group of student-athletes," said Olson. "They are making great progress and having fun doing it. Thank you to Director of Athletics Corey Goff and the rest of the Knox Athletics staff for having trust in me and continuing to support our student-athletes in every way possible."

Olson grew up in Champaign, Illinois and attended Champaign Central High School where she played volleyball and softball.

After high school, Olson attended the University of Illinois where she majored in Applied Life Studies and also obtained her K-12 Physical Education and Coaching Endorsement.

Olson is married and has three children and three grandchildren. In her free time she enjoys swimming, playing pickleball, gardening, and cooking.
