SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State University Director of Athletics Kyle Moats has announced the addition of Amanda Schmelzer to his staff.

Schmelzer will officially begin her duties on Oct. 9 and have the title of assistant director of athletics for compliance. In that capacity, she will oversee the rules education, enforcement and interpretation efforts for Missouri State's 400 student-athletes and nearly 100 staffers. She will also serve as the primary liaison for all matters related to the NCAA's transfer portal, NIL, signing day and waiver activities.

Schmelzer has spent the past six years at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin where she held the positions of assistant AD for compliance and academic services (2019 to 2023) and academic advisor / athletic support specialist (2017 to 2019). She also served as an adjunct professor at MSSU since 2018.

"I am excited to join the staff at Missouri State and look forward to providing support to the coaching staff and student athletes," said Schmelzer. "I am appreciative of the opportunity to serve a tremendous staff and institution."

Prior to entering the field of college athletics, she served as an attorney in Joplin (2005 to 2017) after earning her law degree from Tulsa in 2000. She also served as a graduate assistant in Athletics during her time at Tulsa.
