BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe has announced a two-year contract extension for head baseball coach Kyle Hallock. Hallock's contract now runs through Dec. 14, 2027.

"Bowling Green Baseball continues to be in excellent hands under the leadership of Coach Kyle Hallock," said BGSU Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe. He is dedicated not only to developing strong baseball players, but also to mentoring successful students who care about academics and giving back to the Bowling Green community. Kyle has developed a strong Falcon culture built on character, toughness and class, and we look forward to continued growth and the upcoming success of BGSU baseball under his leadership."

Hallock is coming off his third season at the helm of the Falcons, taking over prior to the 2021 campaign. During his time leading the Orange and Brown, BGSU has witnessed Kyle Gurney become just the second player in program history to receive Academic All-America honors multiple times. Additionally, DJ Newman was named a Freshman All-American by four different media outlets on top of being named MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-MAC as a DH at the conclusion of the 2023 season. The season also included a win over No. 5 Louisville, the program's first win against a Top 5 opponent.

During his second season with the Falcons in 2022, Hallock coached Bowling Green to one of the program's most explosive offenses during the BBCOR era. During that era, the 2022 season saw the most doubles (95), triples (17), home runs (46) and RBI (284) while producing the best slugging percentage (.442) and on-base percentage (.367) with the second-best batting average (.281). The season began with a 22-run performance against Saint Louis and included a win over Michigan State, the program's first win against a Power 5 opponent since 2014.

"I am thrilled to be the head baseball coach at Bowling Green State University," said Hallock. "I want to thank Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe, President Rogers and our great alumni for their continued belief in our staff's vision for this program. We have built a solid foundation and it's time to take the program to the next level on all fronts. I look forward to being part of that process."

Over three seasons at the helm of the Falcons, Hallock has tallied a 58-94 record, being 45-63 in conference play. The team has posted a program-record for Academic All-MAC selections each season under Hallock, culminating in a league-high 17 this year and a total of 42 honorees over his three seasons. Over three seasons under Hallock, the Falcons have had two players named Freshman All-Americans, two Academic All-Americans, one MAC Freshman Player of the Year, one MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, two All-MAC First Team selections, three All-MAC Second Team selections and three All-MAC Defensive Team selections.
