HCU Unveils Updated Athletics Branding

Huskies release modifications to Husky head, along with new wordmarks, after name change

HOUSTON – The HCU athletic department is excited to share its new set of branding, with modifications to the Husky head and new wordmarks following the name change of the school last fall. These marks, provided by Carnegie, replace the temporary athletics branding put in place following the name change but do not replace the temporary institutional wordmarks.

The new Husky head is sleeker and fiercer. The old orange outline on the inner detailing has been removed, with orange now appearing on the outer edge of the blue head. The eyes, which received smoother eyebrows, now also have a splash of orange. These modifications will make it easier to reproduce, from a graphic design standpoint, on printable materials from apparel to embroidery to stationery.

The HCU wordmark contains a nod to the school's "Ten Pillars", with the serifs closely resembling the school's iconic landmarks. The HCU forms a symmetrical arch over the Husky head. Both the Husky head and the HCU wordmarks can be used alone and in interchangeable blue, orange and white color combinations to contrast backgrounds of various colors.

Houston Christian University, formerly Houston Baptist University, officially changed its name on Sept. 21, 2022. The school is still working with Carnegie (carnegiehighered.com) on new branding for the campus. A new athletics style guide can be found here:
