Yeck Tabbed as Head Golf Coach as Kean Announces Addition of Men’s and Women’s Golf Programs

UNION, N.J. (9/22/23) - The Kean University athletics department has announced the hiring of Joseph Yeck as the head golf coach.

"I am excited to lead the men's and women's golf programs at Kean, and I'm grateful to Kelly Williams and his staff for giving me the opportunity to do so", said Yeck.

Yeck will lead the men's and women's programs when they begin action as varsity sports in the fall of 2024. This will bring Kean's offerings to 20 for NCAA Division III sports.

Kean previously sponsored a men's golf program that competed from 1968 to 1986. The women's program will be the first in the school's history.

Yeck comes to Kean from nearby New Jersey City University, where he served as the men's head coach since 2018 and was the first women's coach since the program began competition in 2020.

During his time with the Gothic Knights, Yeck had two All-Conference selections, two weekly selections and 19 All-Academic team selections. In the most recent season for NJCU, the men placed fourth at the first-ever Atlantic East Conference golf championship, while the women finished third.

Yeck was also involved with the department's annual golf outing which helped raise over $80,000 over the last three years.

Prior to NJCU, Yeck was an assistant coach at Drew University (2016-2018) and McDaniel College (2010-12). At Drew, he was responsible for helping build the first ever golf program at the University. At McDaniel, he was on the staff that won the Centennial Conference Championship and reached the Division III Championship in North Carolina.

In addition, Yeck also served in College Admissions at both NJCU and Drew University.

A student-athlete in his own right, Yeck was a member of the golf and men's basketball programs at York College (Pa.). In fact, he was a team captain on the Spartans basketball team that reached the final four in 2005.

Yeck holds a Master's in Business Administration from Mount Saint Mary's University as well as a Bachelor's in Sport Management from York.

"I look forward to recruiting strong student-athletes with high-character who want to excel both in the classroom and on the course. I am thrilled to get started and ready to make an immediate impact with our golfers."
