Steve Tebbs Hired as Crown's Next Director of Athletics

St. Bonifacius, MN - Crown College is thrilled to announce Steve Tebbs as the athletic department's new Director of Athletics, beginning January 2024. Tebbs will oversee all 18 NCAA Division III athletics programs competing in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

"I am grateful to President Denton and the leadership at Crown College for affording me this exciting opportunity, and for their confidence in me and in our shared vision for Polars Athletics," said Tebbs.

Tebbs brings over 25 years of athletic operations experience and leadership in athletics. Tebbs has spent the past few years as a Professor of Sports Management at North Central University since 2019 and served as the Faculty Athletic Representative. Prior to this he spent over 17 years as the Director of Athletic Facilities and Operations at Sacramento State, an NCAA Division 1 institution. He also spent a short stint as the Operations Manager for the Sacramento Kings.

"I am energized to serve our Crown student-athletes, coaches, staff, university, alumni, and donors. We will strive for excellence in all of our pursuits in alignment with our Christian values while competing with integrity," said Tebbs.

Tebbs obtained his undergraduate degree in Communications and Public Relations from Sacramento State. He received his masters degree in Sport Management from Western Kentucky University.

He is the right man to build on a solid foundation that exists for Polars athletics," said Vice President of College Relations Joel Johnson, "His experience in collegiate and professional athletics, higher ed academics, and his passion for spiritual formation and growth among our coaches and athletes will propel us to the next level of success for Crown."
