KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has extended its relationship with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH) to provide athletic healthcare services to the conference and its member institutions. This includes but is not limited to consultation and support from USCAH staff and utilization of USCAH resources.

“USCAH is the industry leader for intercollegiate athletics healthcare education and resources,” MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy said. “The extension of this partnership will allow us to continue to enhance the athletics healthcare environment for all MIAA student athletes, coaches and administrators.”

In the partnership agreement, USCAH will focus on providing e-learning resources to member schools, support for MIAA athletic trainers and focused delivery of mental health initiatives.

The Athletic Healthcare Administrator Association (AHAA), USCAH’s community-based forum for individuals with or interested in athletic healthcare administration, provides important resources, educational opportunities and a private discussion forum. Each NIAA institution will receive unlimited individual memberships to the AHAA as a result of this partnership.

In coordination with the MIAA Mental Wellness Advocacy Team, USCAH will also offer campus guidance and programming. This includes a four-part webinar for coaches that examines mental health and well-being and a creation of a certification program through the Athletics Healthspace.

"USCAH is proud to continue to partner with the MIAA conference office and institutions to prioritize health, safety and wellbeing for student-athletes," stated Dr. Jim Borchers, MD, MPH – President and CEO of USCAH. "The commitment of the MIAA to holistic physical and mental health and safety programming aligns with the principles of best practices for college athletes."
