SIAC Joins Prestigious Atlantic Collegiate Football Officiating Alliance (ACFOA) In Partnership With the ACC

ATLANTA, GA - In partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) is thrilled to announce its newly established membership within the Atlantic Collegiate Football Officiating Alliance (ACFOA), formed in the spring of 2018 between the Atlantic Coast Conference, the American Athletic Conference, and the Big South Conference. The SIAC's involvement in this esteemed alliance marks a significant step toward further enhancing the quality and consistency of officiating in collegiate football.

Further comprising prominent collegiate athletic conferences such as the Colonial Athletic Association, the Ivy League, the Patriot League, and the Ohio Valley Conference, this alliance focuses on officiating matters encompassing scheduling, training, development, recruitment, retention, and evaluation of football officials. In addition, collaborative efforts aim to elevate veteran officials' proficiency while creating opportunities for talented young officials to enter the profession.

SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman expressed his enthusiasm for this groundbreaking partnership, stating, "The SIAC is excited to partner with the ACC as a member of its football officiating alliance. Our goal is to provide our officials with the best possible training in hopes of improving the quality of their officiating while providing a diverse pipeline of talent to all leagues that are a part of the alliance."

SIAC Coordinator of Football Officials Tom Symonette, a key player within this partnership, will serve as the primary point of contact for SIAC Member Institutions and any affiliated ACFOA members. In addition, Symonette will work collaboratively with ACC Supervisor of Football Officials Alberto Riveron on the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and assigning of officials for all games.

This partnership reinforces the SIAC's dedication to providing the best possible experiences for its student-athletes, member institutions, and fans. The conference looks forward to a future marked by excellence, fairness, and the highest caliber of officiating in collegiate football.
