Craig Anderson Named Deputy Athletics Director

Anderson comes to BC after spending the previous 10 years at the University of Miami

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Blake James announced the hiring of Craig Anderson as Deputy Athletics Director.  Anderson comes to the Heights after spending nearly 10 years at the University of Miami, where he most recently served in a similar capacity.

"We are thrilled to welcome Craig to the Boston College Athletics family, and I know that he will have an immediate impact on our department and--most importantly--on our tremendous student-athletes," James said. "Craig brings a wealth of experience in a variety of areas in college athletics to The Heights and will play an instrumental role in our future success. As someone involved in national and ACC governance, he will also help keep Boston College front and center in the evolving landscape discussions."

While at Miami, Anderson served as a member of the athletics department's executive leadership team, with oversight of compliance, serving as the liaison between the university's office of the General Counsel regarding NCAA compliance issues.  A national leader in governance activities, Anderson currently serves as the chair of the NCAA Division I Initial Eligibility Waivers Core-Course Subcommittee and also is the chair of the ACC Baseball Committee.

Anderson also provided leadership and oversight for Miami's strength & conditioning, athletics training, sports medicine, nutrition, mental health, and name, image and likeness (NIL) efforts.  Promoted to the deputy AD role in June 2022, Anderson served as the sport administrator for Miami's men's basketball, baseball, and women's golf programs.

"I cannot express how excited I am to be joining Blake James and the outstanding group of coaches, staff and student-athletes at Boston College," Anderson said.  "I want to personally thank Blake for this tremendous opportunity and my family and I cannot wait to get to the Heights and join the Boston College family."

Anderson joined the Hurricanes in 2013 as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and was promoted to Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in 2015. Prior to that, Anderson served in senior administrative and compliance roles at N.C. State, Virginia, and UNLV.  He began his career in intercollegiate athletics at Marshall University in 2005.

Originally from Corning, N.Y., Anderson received his bachelor's degree in political science in 2005 from the University of Pittsburgh.  During his undergraduate career at Pitt, he was a student worker for four years in the compliance office.  He would earn his master's degree in athletic administration from Marshall University in 2006.  He and his wife, Sarah, are the proud parents of twins, Harrison and Harper.
