Biggs Named First Randolph Men’s Wrestling Head Coach

LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph College Director of Athletics Tom Galbraith announced Friday that Paul Biggs has been hired as the school's inaugural head coach for men's wrestling. Men's wrestling is one of four new sports tabbed to begin play in the 2024-25 academic year for the WildCats.

"In searching for a leader to trust with the role of establishing Randolph's men's wrestling program, Paul checked every box the committee was seeking," Galbraith said. "It did not take long for us to realize we had an amazing candidate in our midst as he matriculated through the hiring process. I can't wait to see what heights he takes this program."

Biggs comes to Randolph from fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) institution Ferrum College, where was serving his second stint as an assistant coach with the men's wrestling program. Biggs was an assistant coach from 2016-2018 and rejoined the program this past summer.

From 2017-23, Biggs was the head wrestling coach at Morehead High School in Eden, N.C. He also started the Caveman Wrestling Club while there.

Biggs is a 2016 graduate of Ferrum where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in accounting.

He was the first wrestler to compete all four years for the Panthers, grappling on the club team as a freshman in 2012-13 and competing as a varsity participant for his final three seasons. He qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships after earning a runner-up finish in the 149-pound weight class at the NCAA East Regional. He was also a regional place winner in 2015.

"It is a great honor to be the head coach at the start of a new program. This program will consistently strive for team academic and athletic success as it molds young men into fortified adults," said Biggs. "The thing that excites me the most is creating a standard of excellence that our student-athletes will value, uphold, and use the rest of their lives."

Men's Wrestling was announced as the 25th ODAC sponsored sport in 2022. Currently, five full-time conference schools offer men's wrestling (Averett, Ferrum, Roanoke, Shenandoah, and Washington & Lee), along with associated members Greensboro and Southern Virginia.
