UAM to Hold Kenneth H. Hunt Performance Center Ribbon Cutting Prior to Homecoming Game

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello Athletics Department is excited to invite Weevil and Blossom alumni and friends attend a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally dedicate and open the Kenneth H. Hunt Athletic Performance Center prior to the Weevils' homecoming game against East Central University on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication will begin at 10:30 a.m. outside the front doors of the newly completed performance center. With the voice of UAM Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Hud Jackson as the emcee, the ceremony will also include Chancellor Dr. Peggy Doss for the grand opening.

All former UAM student-athletes are encouraged to join us on tailgate row between 10:00 to 2:00, where a tent will be set up got alumni. We invite you to walk over and join us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Performance Center Campaign focused on enhancing the support of student-athletes' experience at UAM through a major facility improvement.

Ultimately, the fully re-imagined facility transformed into a space including a 4,000 SF weight room and a 3,000 SF athletic training area - spaces that better align with the quality facilities our exceptional student-athletes and prospective student-athletes deserve.

The Kenneth H. Hunt Athletic Performance Center was a $1.3 million project that broke ground in 2022 located on the east wing of Steelman Field House, next to the Athletic Department offices. Funding for this project was raised through athletics fundraising and generous gifts by donors and friends of UAM Athletics. No University or state funds were used in the construction of this facility.

The completion of the project marks the first step in the recently announced Legacy Campaign; UAM Athletics' next big project that focuses on enhancing the support of student-athletes through major facility improvements. The five-phase project is built around improving the quality of facilities our exceptional student-athletes and prospective student-athletes deserve.

Tickets are available for cash only at the gate.
