WORCESTER, Mass. (October 11, 2023) – Assumption University Director of Athletics Eric Gobiel today announced that Diane Lapierre has been hired as the new Director of eSports.

"I am extremely excited to welcome Diane to the Assumption University athletics family," said Gobiel. "She brings a plethora of experience in coaching, consulting, directing, and competing in the eSports arena. She has the expertise and ability to enhance our program in the years to come. I look forward to working alongside Diane while she creates and fosters a great experience for our current and future student-athletes."
 
Lapierre comes to Assumption via Nor'easter Gaming, where she was the director of Live Events and eSports and acted as a consultant for high schools, colleges, and municipalities interested in establishing esports programs.
While in college, Lapierre was the Student Director of eSports at Husson University, where she collaborated with school administration to establish a program, led the program recruiting efforts, and managed player development across all teams.  
 
"I am thrilled to be joining the team at Assumption," stated Lapierre. "I look forward to working with the students and staff to continue to build a program that champions a student-first experience and competitive excellence."

Lapierre has had previous stops with Calico esports as a player and team manager for their two League of Legends teams and a content creator and player-manager for Supernova.

Lapierre is a 2016 graduate of Husson University with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies, with a focus in Recreation/Sports Administration and Event Management.
