10/2/2023 12:19:00 PM

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart and William Smith Colleges Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian Miller announced today that Tim Riskie will serve as the interim head coach of the Statesmen and Heron squash teams for the 2023-24 season.

"We are extremely fortunate to have an experienced squash coach already on staff with Tim and I am grateful to him for taking on the interim role this season," Miller said. "I am confident Coach Riskie's experience and knowledge of the sport will help provide a positive experience for our current teams."

A member of the coaching staff since 2011, Riskie served as the head coach of Hobart squash for his first eight seasons at the Colleges. He led the Statesmen to 79 wins, capturing the 2012 Conroy Cup at the College Squash Association Team Championships. Riskie mentored six All-Liberty League selections and a dozen Liberty League All-Academic honorees.

During each of his 12 years at HWS, Riskie has led the Hobart tennis team, compiling a 137-83 record. Last season, his Statesmen went 16-5, tied for first in the Liberty League regular season standings and were the runners-up in the league championship tournament. For the past three seasons, Riskie has also served as the head coach of the William Smith tennis team.

Riskie inherits a William Smith squash team that went 18-4 last year. The Herons captured the Liberty League championship, the fourth in program history, and finished 15th in the nation, matching the program's best finish at nationals. The Hobart squash team went 11-11 and claimed the College Squash Association's Barnaby Award for the most improved men's team.

Hobart begins its 2023-24 campaign on Nov. 11 when it welcomes Western University to the Smith Squash Center. The Herons begin their season on Nov. 18 at Tufts University.

The national search for a head coach for Hobart and William Smith squash is ongoing.
