HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville Director of Athletics Dr. Cade Smith announced the hiring of Mark Frey as head coach of the UAH men's lacrosse program.

"I am incredibly excited to welcome Mark to Huntsville and UAH." Smith said. "Mark is a man of incredible character who I believe will be a strong leader for the men's lacrosse program and will continue the program's upward trajectory."

Frey has a bevy of men's lacrosse coaching experience throughout the collegiate landscape, as he comes to the Rocket City after most recently spending the last three seasons as head coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

"I would like to thank UAH President Dr. Chuck Karr and Dr. Cade Smith along with the entire search committee for this amazing opportunity." Frey said. "The future of UAH men's lacrosse is very exciting and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

A native of McLean, Virginia, he previously assisted at Methodist University, Florida Southern and Cleveland State following head coaching stints at Ferrum and Loyola Marymount.

Moreover, Frey began his collegiate playing career at Ohio State before transferring to McDaniel College, where he helped the Green Terror earn a top-10 national ranking.

He is an alumnus of McDaniel College, graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts.

Frey inherits a UAH squad that went 10-7 in the 2023 campaign including a 2-3 mark in Peach Belt Conference play, as the program produced three All-PBC honorees. He will be the third head coach in UAH men's lacrosse history.
