The Youngstown State football team will resume a series with Villanova starting in 2024. YSU will visit the Wildcats on August 29, 2024, and host a contest on Sept. 2, 2027, at Stambaugh Stadium.

The Penguins and Wildcats last met in the regular season on Nov. 13, 1999, at Villanova. The 2024 meeting will be the 10th all-time contest between the schools dating back to 1975. Of the previous nine games, three contests (1991, 1992 and 1997) took place in the FCS playoffs. The last time YSU played host to the Wildcats was on Nov. 28, 1992, in the postseason. YSU has won seven of the nine contests against Nova, including wins in each of the past five games. The most recent meeting was a 28-21 win in 1999.

YSU's non-conference slate in 2024 includes the trip to Villanova, followed by home contests with Valparaiso (Sept. 7) and Duquesne (Sept. 14), before visiting Pittsburgh to close out the pre-MVFC slate on Sept. 21.

The 2027 non-conference match ups are home against Villanova (Sept. 2) and Robert Morris (Sept. 18) and at Maryland (Sept. 11).
