Haller Announces Restructuring of Athletic Department Executive Leadership

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State vice president and director of athletics Alan Haller announced changes to his leadership team designed to create more efficiencies as well as strategic collaboration.

"The people who make up the Michigan State athletic department are one of our greatest strengths," said Haller. "In making these organizational changes, we're creating a structure which will allow for more efficient decision making and operations as we move forward as a department. We have great people throughout our department who come to work every day focused on our common goals of helping our student-athletes maximize their opportunities, while also helping the department be a value-add community partner."

Jennifer Smith, Ashton Henderson and Epiphany Clark will each serve as Deputy Athletics Director.

Smith continues her role as Deputy AD, overseeing all Internal Operations: Student-Athlete Support Services, Sport Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Compliance.

Henderson has been promoted to Deputy AD of Championship Resources and his units will remain: Student-Athlete Development, Nutrition, Athletic Training, Varsity S, Athletic Performance, NIL, and Wellness/Performance. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will move to the Championship Resources unit.

Clark has been promoted to Deputy AD of External Operations and will have oversight of the following units: Business Office, Ticket Office, Equipment, Athletic Communications, Capital Projects, Facilities, Event Management, Spartan Fund, and Marketing, Brand, and Revenue Generation.

They are joined on the Executive Leadership team by Paul Schager and LaRhonda Burley. Schager moves to Senior Advisor, focusing on strategic projects. Burley moves to Executive Senior Associate AD of Marketing, Brand, and Revenue Generation, where her areas of oversight include: Marketing, Fan Engagement, Spartan Vision, and MSU Sports Properties (Playfly).

Additionally, Kasey Carter (Facilities & Operations Management), Dylan Marinez (Facilities and Capital Projects), and Megan Vanderveen (Human Resources) are being promoted to Associate Athletics Director, and Alex Breske (Risk Management & Policy), Meagan Hogan (Marketing and Fan Engagement) and Ben Phlegar (Communications) are being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director.
