Myers Awarded Contract Extension

Leopards’ mentor enters his fifth season on College Hill

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette men's lacrosse head coach Patrick Myers has received a contract extension that will keep him at the helm of the Leopards' program through the 2026 season.

"We are very excited to have signed Pat to a contract extension," said Lafayette Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman. "The passion, energy and commitment demonstrated by Pat and his staff are unmatched and we believe our program has the foundation for success."

In conjunction with the contract extension, Lafayette College continues to elevate the men's lacrosse program through strategic investments in the resources and funding necessary to recruit and retain the best lacrosse student-athletes in the nation.

"My staff and I couldn't be more excited about the direction of the Lafayette lacrosse program, and we feel honored to have the opportunity to continue building here in Easton. The commitment to lacrosse from President Hurd, our Board of Trustees and our Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman is palpable," Myers said. "With a new facility on the horizon and a phenomenal group of student athletes, it's an incredible time to be a Leopard. Lauren, myself and the girls love it here in the Valley, and we are humbled to be a part of this awesome community at Lafayette College. The future for Leopard lacrosse is incredibly bright, and my staff and I look forward to leading a program that makes the College proud both on and off the field for years to come."

Under Myers, the Leopards have led the Patriot League in Academic Honor Roll selections over the past two seasons, setting a program record with 44 student-athletes on the Honor Roll in 2021. The Leopards also earned USILA Academic Team Awards in 2021 and 2022, with Peter Lehman garnering Scholar All-America honors in 2022.

The men's program, which put in 700-plus hours of community service in 2021-22, was honored by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association in December, presented with the annual Sticks and Service Award.

On the turf, Myers has the Leopards heading in an upward trajectory following a 2022 campaign that included knocking off CAA power Drexel for the first time in 10 years. The 2022 squad also set the program record for goals in a single game in the Patriot League era during a 21-11 victory at Holy Cross.

In 2021, Lehman earned Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors, under the tutelage of Myers, following that up with an All-Second Team selection in 2022 and a 2023 Preseason All-Patriot League naming.

Along with his duties with Lafayette College, Myers has served on the Team USA U21 coaching staff as an assistant under his brother, Nick who is the head coach of the national team. The Americans won the gold medal at the U21 World Lacrosse Championship in Limerick, Ireland in August 2022, adding a second gold to Myers' collection after winning the U19 crown in 2016.

Myers and the Leopards open their season at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Penn State.
