RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech University department of athletics is proud to announce the unveiling of its new visual identity through a partnership with Torch Creative. The new visual identity includes new primary and secondary logos as well as a custom font set.
 
"We are so excited about the direction we are taking as a department with our new visual identity," remarked Arkansas Tech director of athletics, Abby Davis. "These new logos are a seamless connection between our past and present, while also positioning us for the future."
 
The new primary logo showcases a straight edge outline of the State of Arkansas with the wordmark "TECH" proudly positioned at the center of the state, similar in relation to the location of ATU.
 
"Within the footprint of our state and our region, 'Tech' has always been synonymous with Arkansas Tech University," said Davis. "Our new primary logo captures that sentiment in a bold way that will lend itself to a look that will strongly represent our athletic department for years to come. The incorporation of the outline of the State of Arkansas further drives home who we are, but in a subtle and visually captivating way – We are Arkansas Tech!"
 
"It was also important for us during this process to find a way to have Arkansas represented in a significant way to stay connected to our present and the fact that over 90% of our student population are from Arkansas," added Davis.
 
The connection to the past can be seen in the archives of ATU athletics dating back to the late 1970s and early 1980s when a similar variation of the new visual identity adorned either side of the Wonder Boys football helmets.
 
Complimenting the primary, the secondary logo is the "TECH" wordmark standing alone. This secondary option strengthens the historical use of just the word 'Tech' across many iterations of the athletics logo while also closely tying in with the new primary mark.
 
Arkansas Tech will begin implementing its enhanced athletics visual identity immediately with a phased rollout for team uniforms, playing surfaces, signage and other new assets over the course of the near future.
