Carmen Hewlett Named Senior Woman Administrator

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Carmen Hewlett as the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and Head Athletic Trainer.

"I am excited to have Carmen rejoin our Vandal program," Director of Athletics Terry Gawlik. "She will work closely with me on projects, our Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), and represent Idaho athletics at Big Sky Conference meetings. She will be a great addition to our athletic department."

Hewlett will assist in ensuring the representation of women's interests, experiences, and perspectives in the decision-making process in intercollegiate athletics at Idaho in addition to her role overseeing the athletic training efforts. She will also be responsible for all medical care of Idaho swim and dive and supervising the athletic training staff.

Hewlett rejoins the Idaho staff after serving in a full-time position as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Montana, where she oversaw track and field and worked as the mental health liaison. She was previously on staff as an athletic trainer for the Vandals in 2022.

The Colorado native graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor of science in athletic training and a minor in psychology in 2020 before earning a master's degree in educational leadership at Northern Arizona University in 2022.

She also has previous athletic training experience at Northern Arizona and Washington State.

Hewlett maintains a BOC Athletic Training certification, CPR/AED certification, National Athletic Training Association membership, and is an Arizona, Idaho, and Montana state-licensed Athletic Trainer.
