Sarah Leiby Named Head Women's Soccer Coach

Charleston, W.Va. – Director of Athletics Dr. Bren Stevens announces Sarah Leiby as the next Women's Soccer Head Coach at the University of Charleston.
 
"I am pleased to announce that Sarah Leiby has been selected as the next head coach for our university's women's soccer team.," stated Dr. Stevens. "Sarah brings strong leadership abilities, exceptional emotional intelligence, and a wealth of experience in the sport which makes her an ideal fit to lead one of our top athletic programs. Additionally, Coach Leiby holds multiple USSF teaching licenses that will enable her to deliver high-quality training sessions to our student-athletes."
 
Leiby comes to the University of Charleston with an impressive list of accomplishments and education in her young career. Most recently Leiby served a one season stint at the College of Charleston as an assistant coach where she analyzed and developed film and training sessions for the team.
 
Leiby has several USSF National licenses including B, C, and D in addition to having received United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper level 2 and 3 diplomas. To round out her soccer education, Leiby is also a US Soccer C course coach educator.
 
Before her time at College of Charleston, Leiby worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Dartmouth for two seasons. In her time with the Big Green, she helped lead several players to earn Ivy League post-season recognition.
 
Prior to her time at Dartmouth, Leiby served as the Associate Head Coach at Saint Leo University from March 2019 toJune 2021. During her time at Saint Leo, Leiby led the team to their first national ranking in two years at 23rd as well as improving the teams GPA from a 3.29 to 3.61. 
 
Leiby spent 2016 to 2019 as an assistant coach—first at Black Hills State from January 2016 to April 2017, and then Montana State University Billings from April 2017 to February 2019.
 
Leiby is a member of two professional organizations, the US Soccer SheChampions mentor program as well as the WeCoach NCAA women coach's academy. Leiby was also awarded the United Soccer Coaches 30 under 30 in 2019.
 
Leiby is a graduate of the University of Vermont where she received her bachelor's in environmental science and is on track to graduate from West Virginia University with her masters in sport coaching in August of this year.
